- 2 Large Eggs beaten.
- 5 Cups sifted flour
- 2 Cups buttermilk
- 1 Cup granulated sugar
- ½ Cup melted butter.
- 2 tbsp baking soda
- 1 Cup baking powder
- 1 Cup salt
- 1 Cup nutmeg
- ¼ tbsp cinnamon
Combine together the buttermilk, eggs, and sugar
Set this mixture aside to rest
Mix together the other dry ingredients
Add the buttermilk mixture to the dry ingredients and combine
Stir in the melted butter and knead until a soft dough is created.
Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to approximately ¼ inch in thickness
Cut out shapes with a donut cutter
In a deep-fat fryer, heat oil to 370°F (190°C
Fry the donuts on each side for approximately until golden brown
Drain on paper towels
Dip in sugar to serve
